Neverne Covington has spent a lifetime exploring the power of line, color, and composition. After earning her degree from Eckerd College and continuing her studies in London and at the University of South Florida, she built a successful career as a commercial illustrator before dedicating herself to fine art.
Although widely recognized for her expressive paintings, Covington has long embraced printmaking as an essential part of her artistic practice. Through techniques including etching and drypoint, she explored movement, texture, and composition, using the medium to investigate ideas that would continue to influence her work.
Beyond her own artwork, Covington shared her knowledge with generations of students, teaching at Eckerd College, Ringling College of Art and Design, and the Morean Arts Center. Her commitment to education helped strengthen the region’s artistic community while inspiring new artists to explore printmaking and other creative disciplines.
Neverne Covington’s career reminds us that printmaking is more than a process. It is a way of seeing, experimenting, and telling stories that continues to shape artists throughout Tampa Bay.
