Volunteering at the St. Petersburg Museum of History

Volunteers are crucial to the success of the St. Petersburg Museum of History. They support daily operations, public programs, exhibit curation, special events, and behind-the-scenes work in the Archives and Collections. Opportunities vary depending on museum needs and may include assisting with guest services, helping at events, supporting educational programs, or contributing to collections and archival projects.

Volunteers working with the Archives may also assist with research support, organization of materials, and other projects under staff guidance. No prior museum experience is required for many roles, but attention to detail, reliability, and a love of local history are always valued.

Each volunteer application is reviewed based on current needs and available projects, and training is provided where needed.

Volunteering is a meaningful way to connect with St. Petersburg’s history while helping preserve it for future generations.
