Christine Renc-Carter has spent her career preserving, interpreting, and creating art. A second-generation Florida artist, she began making drypoints on her father’s etching press at the age of five, beginning a lifelong connection to printmaking.
After earning degrees in printmaking and art history, Renc-Carter built a distinguished museum career, serving as a conservation technician, registrar, curator, and now Executive Director of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College. Alongside her museum work, she has continued an active studio practice, creating prints that combine traditional techniques with materials such as gold leaf, vellum, and hand-stitched thread.
Her work blends craftsmanship with storytelling, drawing inspiration from mythology, symbolism, and personal narratives while expanding the possibilities of contemporary printmaking.
Christine Renc-Carter’s career reflects the close relationship between artists, museums, and education. Through her leadership and creative practice, she continues to preserve artistic traditions while inspiring new generations of artists throughout the Tampa Bay region.
