Mary-Helen Horne proves that creativity can flourish at any stage of life. After a successful career in business, she turned to printmaking in retirement, pursuing a self-directed course of study with artists and printmakers from across the country. Today, she works in relief, intaglio, drawing, and monotype, continually exploring new ways to express her ideas through the printed image.
Inspired by the natural world, Horne’s artwork often reflects on the relationship between people and the environment. Trees serve as recurring symbols in her work, encouraging viewers to consider both the beauty and fragility of the landscapes that surround us.
Recognized as the Morean Arts Center’s 2025 Fresh Squeezed artist, Horne also serves in a leadership role with the 24 Hands Printmaking Collective, helping strengthen the collaborative community that continues to shape printmaking in Pinellas County.
Through her artwork and leadership, Mary-Helen Horne reminds us that printmaking is both a creative practice and a lifelong journey of learning, discovery, and connection.

Join the St. Petersburg Museum of History & Print St. Pete Saturday, August 29, 2026 (11am to 2pm), for a family-friendly fun day of creative printmaking at the Museum!
The event is free with Museum admission. Children (17 & under) are admitted for free with a paid adult admission. (There is no charge for Museum members!) All ages are invited to create unique artwork with provided printmaking supplies!
