A connection to maritime history and Hollywood storytelling, the HMS Bounty was a full-scale replica of an 18th-century British naval vessel built in 1960 for MGM’s 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty, starring Marlon Brando. Constructed in Nova Scotia using original British Admiralty plans, it was designed to recreate the look and feel of a working tall ship.

After filming, the Bounty became a traveling maritime attraction and later docked in St. Petersburg near The Pier, where it served as an immersive exhibit. Visitors were able to step aboard and experience life on a historic sailing vessel, gaining insight into naval travel and shipboard life.

The exhibit blended film history and maritime heritage, offering a hands-on interpretation of 18th-century naval experience while highlighting the ship’s unique legacy as both a Hollywood icon and a public educational attraction.
